DOP is one of the most important things to understand when learning how to shop for authentic products. DOP stands for Protected Designation of Origin. These are authentic San Marzano tomatoes vs. other canned tomatoes that claim to be San Marzano DOP. Pomodoro San Marzano dell’Agro Sarnese-Nocerino DOP canned tomatoes are a type of tomato and are sold under many brand names.
